This week's Toddler Theme Challenge was Penguins. I just love penguins! I knew this was definitely a theme I would enjoy doing with the girls, so we made potato print penguins.
1. You will need to cut a potato so that you have a flat surface to stamp with.
2. You will then cut two wedges from the uncut side of the potato to form a handle. Do not throw these wedges away. You will need them:)
3.Now dip your potato in some black paint. I made a stamp pad out of a few paper towels folded and covered with a small amount of paint.
4. Stamp the potato on a piece of construction paper.
6.After the paint dries, add an oval cut out of white construction paper to the belly of the penguin.
7.The last thing you need to do is add a beak, feet, and an eye. I used a paper reinforcement sticker for the eye. So there you have it a very cute penguin project!
A great book to go along with this project is Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice by Steve Metzger.

ReplyDeleteWhat a neat project. My 2 1/2 year old loves penguins. I will search my library for that book. Have you read "The Little Penguin" by A.J. Wood? I found it thru Scholastic. All my kids love that book. It now has a worn cover from so much love. I will never throw that boook out.
