Two Months

It has been two months since Stella was born. Time just flies by so quickly. In those two months we have experienced a lot of good times and we are so happy to have our sweet little princess

Although, we have had a few...

we have also had a lot of...
and we celebrated a milestone when she finally mastered...

We can't wait to watch her learn and grow a little more each day.

Muffin Tin Monday-Snack

Sometimes, the girls just beg for their snacks in a muffin tin. So, I bought some individual muffin cups so that it would be easier than bringing out the big tins. They love them! Here is one of the snacks they recently enjoyed. You can find the recipe for the Fruit Dip here.

Pasta Dyeing

With the recent heat wave and a few rainy days, we have been playing indoors a lot more than we like to. Finding things to keep the kids from getting bored when they really just want to be outside running around is always a challenge. One of our recent rainy day activities was making bracelets and necklaces with dyed pasta.

{Supplies needed}
rubbing alcohol
food coloring
pasta

1. Combine 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol and 10-20 drops of food coloring in a bowl. Add a hand full or 2 of pasta and stir around. Allow the pasta to sit in the dye for a few minutes stirring occasionally.
2. When the pasta is dyed to the desired color, remove it from the bowl and spread it out on paper towels to dry.
3. After it's completely dry, you can string the pasta on pieces of yarn to make necklaces and bracelets.

Quiet Moments

Quiet moments.
With six kids, quiet moments don't happen very often at our house.

But....tonight,
               I am experiencing just that.
Three of my six kids are spending the night with their Nana and Poppy. Aaron had asked if he could spend the night, so of course Felicia just had to go along and before long, Madelyn got wind of their plan and she was packing her bags too. I must say, although I am  hardly ever without my kids, it is nice. Truthfully, a few weeks ago I came to the realization that I have only been without all of my children one time in the last four years, and that was two years ago! Mike and I had gone on a date for a few hours. So, I guess I am due for a break.

Yes, I do miss them.
But as I sit here eating a ginormous bowl of ice cream without anyone begging for some,
and no one "breathing" on or touching,
                                          poking,
                                              staring at,
or just plain annoying anyone else, I think to myself.......
I could get used to this!

Jell-O Pops (A Summertime Favorite)

Homemade Jell-O Pops were one of my favorite summertime treats when I was a kid and they are also a big hit with my kids too. Anytime they can make something in the kitchen they are beyond thrilled!

{recipe}
1 small package of Jell-O (any flavor)
2 cups boiling water
1/2 sugar
2 cups cold water

Dissolve the Jell-O and sugar in the boiling water and stir well. Add the cold water and give it another stir. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze. Don't have popsicle molds? You can use 3 ounce paper cups instead. Just cover them with foil and push a popsicle stick through the top before you freeze them. Enjoy!

Simplifying...

I have recently been really trying to change a few things in my life to make everything run smoothly. Clearing out clutter and eliminating those things in life that cause unnecessary chaos. That goes for my blog too. Although, I did just recently redesign my blog, I decided to go with a more simple layout. The content will stay the same. I hope you like the new look!

Muffin Tin Monday

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Ours was fabulous! Saturday, I went to a bridal shower for my nephew's fiance. It was very nice and it was great to spend the afternoon with my mom, sisters, and nieces. Yesterday, we continued the "girls only" theme and my girls and I went to the lake with my mom, my sister, Diane, and her girls. The weather was perfect and we all had a blast! Spending the weekend with my family is my idea of perfection!

Now, on to today! We all slept in after being out in the sun all day yesterday, we needed to recharge! It felt great! We plan to be very busy today getting some housework done, but we did not want to miss out on the girls' favorite meal of the week...Muffin Tin Monday!

Here is what the girls had for lunch:
A butterfly shaped peanut butter sandwich, carrots and celery, choice of dressing for dipping, tomatoes, and cheese circles. Yum!

My Scariest Moment as a Parent...Ever!

Well, I guess the title of this post may be a little dramatic, but at the time, it seemed true! I guess it was one of those moments that made me realize that anything can happen. It all started when this very tired momma got up to start her day. The night before had been one of those late nights in which I had to get up several times. Not for the reasons that a parent of a newborn would have to be up, because Stella no longer wakes up during the night (have I mentioned how perfect she is?), but because the 3 oldest Adams children, were hanging out downstairs and being quite loud. Finally falling into a sound sleep at around 3 a.m., I was awakened when Mike came home a little after 6. That's usually when Stella starts her day, so I got up and splashed a little water on my face, changed her diaper and started to head downstairs. That's when it happened! I only remember walking down the first 3 steps when I started to fall. My first thought was, "Oh my God.....Stella!!!" I could not stop it from happening, so I just held her close and pushed myself backwards. I landed on my back and little Stella left out the loudest scream that I have ever heard from her. Then I started screaming! Mike was already at the bottom of the steps, surprisingly calm, checking to see if we were both okay. I scooped myself and my baby girl up and held her close till we both calmed down. After a few minutes, I realized that there was not a scratch on either one of us. Stella ate and as I relaxed, so did she. She was fine! Thankfully, I have a lot of extra "cushion" and she was not injured.

I was so upset all day. Thinking about the "what ifs" had me terrified! Although, it could have happened to anyone, I still felt so guilty! It made me think back to when Stella was just a week old. We were leaving church and heading downstairs for fellowship time when my Dad said to me, "You're taking the elevator down, right?" I just laughed at him. My Dad is super paranoid about the kids getting hurt and we often make fun of him for it. Hmm...maybe, I should start listening to him! LOL!
