Three Months Old

It is so hard to believe that Stella is 3 months old already! I know that I have said it before, but God could not have given us a more perfect baby. She is constantly smiling and if you can get her to laugh, she just does not stop! She's cooing all the time and works really hard to make her "words" heard by anyone who will listen. We are definitely very blessed to have her!

Zz-Zebra

We have finally finished all the alphabet pages for our alphabet book! Of course we couldn't finish our book without a Zebra! We made our zebra the same way we made our pony, but we added a few stripes.

(Oldie but Goodie) Torn Paper Apple

1. Trace an apple and a worm shape on a piece of card board or construction paper. (I used an empty cereal box!) Then cut them out.

2. Tear up a piece of red construction paper into little pieces. (Madelyn really enjoyed ripping the paper!)

3. Paint or color the worm green.

4. Cover the apple with glue.

5. Glue the pieces of paper to the apple.

6. Don't forget to color the leaf!

7. Glue your silly little worm to the apple:0)

Madelyn is so proud of her apple! She can't wait for Felicia to come home from school so she can share it with her:0)

The Theme of Our Week is.....

Can you believe it's that time of year again? Our summer vacation is coming to a close and it is time to get back to school. Brandon returned to school yesterday, Felicia will go back on Thursday, and Michael, Aaron, and Madelyn start Monday. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of prep work to get all the things done that are required to start school. We have been extra busy making sure that everyone has all of their supplies and our calender is up to date. The three kids that start school on Monday are all schooling from home via  PA cyber school, so that is a challenge itself. Making room for them to study and making sure they have all of their computer equipment in working order is yet another thing to do on my very long list. With that said, I am sure that you will all understand my absence throughout this week. I hope to be back to normal posting next week as I am excited to share our back to school fun!

(Oldie but Goodie) Lacing Cards

I don't know about you, but at our house, I can always find an old greeting card of some type laying around. My girls are collectors of old cards and they never want to throw any away. So, this is a great way to recycle these cards into something fun!

1. Select a card or postcard.

2. If using a folded card, glue it closed.

3. Using a hole punch, punch some holes around the outside edge.

4. Now your child can "sew" around the outside using a shoe lace or a piece of yarn with tape around the end.

*If you would like to reinforce your lacing card a bit more, you can cover it with clear contact paper before punching the holes.

Muffin Tin Monday-Salad Bar

Although Felicia has always enjoyed her veggies, Madelyn has not always been a fan. It's become quite a challenge to get her to even try them. This was yet another attempt to get more vegetables into her diet and it actually worked out very well. I think because she was in control, she was willing to try some different things and really, that's all I asked for. So, we used Muffin Tin Monday as a chance to have a bit of a salad bar!
Here are the salad fixins'!

Felicia loved it and although Madelyn did not finish it all, she tried everything and even declared, "Mom, I like carrots!"

I call that a success.

Hand and Foot Lobster

I first made them a few years ago while working at a daycare/preschool. Every time I see them they make me giggle. We had so much fun with this one! I hope you do too!

1. Paint your child's foot and print it on a piece of construction paper.

2. Above the heal end of the foot, print your child's hands. Fingers together, thumb apart to make a claw.

3. Using a marker, connect the claws to the body.
4. Add details and you have a very silly lobster.

Oldies but Goodies

Some of you may have been readers of my other blog Just For Fun. Although I have retired that blog, there are still a lot of good posts over there that some of my new readers may not have seen. So, I have decided that every Friday, I will re-post one of my "Oldies But Goodies" here on Moments of Mommyhood. That way all of our projects, old and new, will be in one place. I hope you enjoy them all!

Yy-Yellow

It was Madelyn's turn to choose what we did for letter Y and she chose yellow! Easy enough! We just did some simple finger painting.

Muffin Tin Monday-Party Style

Yesterday we attended a party to celebrate my niece's graduation from high school. Before we went I asked the girls if they would like to take their muffin tins along. My thought was, they usually just "eat on the run" at parties, grabbing snacks as they play. When they have a muffin tin meal, they almost always finish the whole thing, so I was hoping they would eat a little more "good food" and a little less junk. They loved the idea!

Here's Felicia filling her muffin tin:
She had a pretty good variety of food! Lots of veggies!
Madelyn, on the other hand, choose only macaroni and cheese, a pickled egg, and a pickle. No veggies! Although, she did eat it all! It really is funny how completely different the girls are!

Footprint Bumble Bees

I love making any project that involves hand or foot prints. They are great keepsakes and it's always fun listening to the giggles that go along with painting feet. The girls had such a great time with this project because it was Stella's very first project!

Felicia helped out by painting Stella's foot.
They both directed me where to put Stella's footprint.
When we got it in just the right spot, Madelyn cleaned off all the paint.
We added faces, wings, and stripes to our bees and then we hung them on the door for all to see. :0)

Xx-Xylophone

We are getting closer to the end of our Alphabet book (finally)! For letter X, we made a xylophone! This morning Madelyn asked if we could start over again! I'm glad she is enjoying it, but we'll have to see about starting over, it took me forever to do it the first time. LOL! Maybe we will do something with lowercase letters next time around, who knows. If you would like to review all of the letters that we have completed so far, go here!

Messy Fun :: Magic Muck

Making messes is part of being a kid, right? Well then, it must be true, I am just a big kid! I love doing messy activities with my kids and they never shy away from getting a "little" dirty, so this activity was perfect. Magic Muck is a very simple concoction made by mixing equal parts cornstarch and water.
One of the fun things to do with Magic Muck is to....

Ww-Waves

Our W page was very easy to do. I just cut some simple waves from construction paper and the girls glued them on. To check out our other Alphabet pages, go here.
